Natural Sex Drive Boosting Foods

If it’s true that you are what you eat, then most people would look like a burger or chicken sandwich from their favorite fast food restaurant. Fortunately, it often takes years of bad eating habits to catch up with you. When you’re young, you believe you can get away with a lot in terms of diet and exercise. But as you age, you usually start to feel the effects of less healthy choices. You may need a catalyst to change your ways and choose a more wholesome lifestyle.

My book, Keto-Green 16 has been out for a while now and people still write to tell me how the Keto-Green diet changed their whole life. They were able to lose weight and get healthy again. Isn’t it amazing how changing what you eat can make such a difference?

But that’s not all. There’s quite a bit of sound research concerning how food affects your libido. If you know that how you eat affects your sex life, you may just have the catalyst for change to a healthier lifestyle!

So here’s today’s question: Are there such things as Natural Sex Drive Boosting Foods?

Myth or Fact?

The answer is a resounding YES! And this is not just folklore; there’s real science behind these concepts. Let’s take oysters, for instance. You may have thought it was a myth that oysters can increase your libido. But oysters (and most shellfish) contain arginine. This is an amino acid your body uses to produce nitric oxide. This substance expands and relaxes your blood vessels in much the same way that the drug, Viagra does. That’s why you’ll notice an increase in your sex drive after eating oysters and other shellfish.

Chocolate is another example. There have been countless stories over the years about how chocolate makes people feel amorous. Many believe it’s an aphrodisiac, which it is. But here’s why: chocolate contains a number of compounds that just naturally improve your health, increase your energy and yes, increase your sex drive.

Ingredients of Dark Chocolate

Here’s why dark chocolate is such a good aphrodisiac:

Theobromine is the bitter alkaloid of the cacao plant. It’s a mood elevator that reduces inflammation and improves energy levels.  Tryptophan stimulates serotonin production and improves arousal response. Caffeine and sugar give you instant energy.  Phenyl ethylamine (PEA) is an endorphin that stimulates your sense of well-being and increases excitement.  Anandamide binds to dopamine receptors in the brain, creating euphoria and heightened sensitivity. L-arginine increases blood flow to certain organs, increasing sexual desire, sensation, and satisfaction.

As you can see from the above, there are hard and fast scientific reasons why chocolate works. It’s not just your imagination.

What else can you do to stay healthy?

Be sure to include healthy oils in your diet such as olive oil or sunflower oil. Eat healthy grains as well, such as barley, brown rice, oatmeal and popcorn. Be sure to eat several portions of fresh fruits and vegetables each day. It’s so easy to get in the habit of eating sandwiches, chips, pizza, burgers and soft drinks, but making that extra effort is well worth it.

Get outside each day and get some sunlight. It’s very difficult to get enough of the right foods to maintain healthy levels of vitamin D. But getting out in the sunlight three times a week for about fifteen minutes each day will enable your body to produce the vitamin D it needs. Vitamin D supports healthy bones and teeth and helps reduce the risk of getting diabetes. It supports your immune system, nervous system and brain. There are only a few good food sources of vitamin D. These include sardines, salmon, beef liver, egg yolks and mushrooms.

Maca root

This tuber root vegetable grows in Peru and has been used for centuries for all kinds of physical ailments. The maca root contains a combination of starches, amino acids, minerals, fatty acids, and vitamins. I like to think of it as nature’s perfect formulation for balancing hormones.

I’ve found that it works better for menopausal women than HRT. Rather than supplying hormones for the body, it works on the pituitary and hypothalamus glands to stimulate them to make endogenous hormones in the proper amounts.

I discovered Maca while on vacation in Peru some years ago and my life hasn’t been the same since. My Mighty Maca® Plus drink features Maca root as one of the main 40+ superfood ingredients. It has really made a difference in the lives of countless men and women. It enables you to have the energy and stamina to tackle life’s toughest problems. We all need that, especially at this time.
