Dr. Anna Cabeca Keto-Alkaline® Weight Loss Solution Urinalysis Test Strips

Testing not guessing is key to weight loss success; especially in menopause and over the age of 40.

Dr. Anna created these test strips to help you check your progress and discerns what keeps you:

  • Fat Burning (Ketosis)
  • Detoxing (Alkaline)

She found this to be key to healthy fat loss, stable moods and balanced hormones.

What are ketones? Fixed ketones are not normally found in the urine. They are byproducts of fat metabolism. They can form when a person does not eat enough carbohydrates (for example, in cases of starvation or high-protein diets, such as ketogenic and paleo) or when a person's body cannot use carbohydrates properly. When carbohydrates are not available, the body metabolizes fat instead to get the energy it needs to keep functioning! Urine ketones can be an initial discerning tool to let you know you’re on the right track to fat loss.

Why check urine pH? pH is a measurement of our acid-alkaline balance.  The kidneys play an important role in maintaining the acid-alkaline balance of the body. Therefore, any condition that produces acids or bases in the body such as acidosis or alkalosis, or the ingestion of acidic or basic foods, can directly affect urine pH. Diet can be used to modify urine pH. A high-protein diet or consuming cranberries will make the urine more acidic. A vegetarian diet, and the ingestion of citrus fruits and other alkaline foods, like maca, will tend to make the urine more alkaline. pH in blood is very stable. PH in the urine can be a clue to discovery about our health. Stress can be contributor to a low pH.

Dr. Anna states that:

In general, high stress, high protein, high carbs, dehydration and inflammation can cause more acidic urine. A more alkaline urine PH of 7 or greater has been associated with less inflammation, detoxification, calmer physiology, and hormone balance as well as safer and more successful fat loss.

Test and retest

These test strips are easy to use especially with the app which it actually closer to accurate colors that on the tube. My only concern was I had a few strips not measure right bc while the tab was covered the ketone part was splotchy instead of uniform in color.

Hi K P.,

If the test strips haven't been exposed to moisture or open over a few months before using (they are sensitive to light and moisture) then they are calibrated to work fine.

Confirm pH color changes by dipping in a sodium bicarb solution mixed with water.

Ketones are trickier. If you have been in ketosis for a long period of time then you may be keto-adapted and we won't see ketones in your urine. This can be confirmed by doing a blood test for ketones.

Another option is to have a higher carb day, moving your body out of ketosis then follow your urine as you get back in.

More commonly, it is not changing because of not being in ketosis, so fasting for a longer period of time may be necessary or higher carb restrictions. Many clients get success after 2 bone broth days in a row. Some of us are just harder to get there.

Please send me your feedback and results. I want to see your success.

Really useful

I’ve used standard test strips before but like these “hybrid” ones a lot. It has been very educational to eat/drink and then see where my ph and Keto numbers go. I recommend it, it makes me a much more conscious eater.

I love having both the keto and ph on one test strip. At times it is difficult for me to tell which color it matches because the strip is more pale than the guide. So I just go by the shade.
