My Explant Surgery Journey: Healing, Hindsight, and Coming Home to My Body

The Day Before Surgery: A Letter From My Heart

Lying in bed the morning before my explant surgery, I felt a wave of emotions I can only describe as sacred.

This decision had been quietly unfolding for almost two years. Last December, I partially deflated my saline implants to help me decide whether reconstruction was right for me. That symbolic step gave me clarity.

In the end, I chose a minimal breast lift, no reconstruction. That might not be the right choice for everyone, but it was the right one for me. I believe my implants had become an energetic heart block—and I was ready to release it.

Preparing My Body, Mind, and Spirit

As a physician, I’ve consented thousands of patients for surgery. But this time, I was the one signing the form—and the words "risk of death" stopped me in my tracks. My own mother never woke up from what was considered a successful surgery.

That memory stayed with me. So did oxytocin—the hormone of connection and trust—which helped me stay grounded in love, not fear.

Physically, I prepared by:

  • Pausing blood-thinning supplements like Omega-3s

  • Doubling my Mighty Maca® Plus (2 scoops AM, 1–2 scoops PM)

  • Eating clean, alkaline meals and reducing caffeine and sugar

  • Centering myself in gratitude and prayer

Spoiler: Mango Mighty Maca® in sparkling water is a game-changer.

Post-Op: What Healing Looks Like

I’m now a few days post-surgery, recovering in my cozy nook, surrounded by books, broth, and love. My surgery went beautifully.

  • En bloc removal of the implants and capsules

  • Breast lift

  • Upper eyelid lift, thanks to my dear friend Natalie Jill

Post surgery caps

Even though the implants weighed less than a pound, I’ve already released six pounds.

Yes, six.

Inflammation is fading. Stress is lifting. My body feels like it’s finally exhaling.

I don’t believe I had breast implant illness. But I feel better. I feel more like me.

I can breathe easier. Hug tighter. Rest deeper.

My Explant Recovery Protocol (So Far)

This protocol supports my detox, reduces inflammation, and helps me heal faster:

Daily Nutrition & Supplements

Healing Therapies I’m Using

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) – began on Day 5

  • ARRC LED Bed Light Therapy – for cellular healing

  • Sunlighten® Infrared Sauna – daily detox support

  • Queen of the Thrones Castor Oil Wraps – for gut and lymphatic flow

If You’re Considering Explant (or Implants)

Please, journal it out. Talk with trusted advisors. Make the decision from love, not fear.

There is no universal “right” answer—only your answer.

I’m thankful for the younger me who made the best choice she could with what she knew. And I’m proud of the woman I am now for choosing to heal.

This year, I’ve:

  • Let my natural gray grow in

  • Celebrated 8 years without Botox or fillers

  • Embraced a new bra size—and yes, I’m still figuring out how to alter my La Perla bras!

This is my Second Spring. A time of reawakening, vibrancy, and truth.
