What are you craving?

How was your Halloween?

If it was anything like mine, you have a ton of candy left over. What tempted you?
I did a Meet & Treat party and added some health snacks like Mummies (dough wrapped hotdog with capers for eyes), Pumpkin soup, and creative other creatures, thank you Jami and Pinterest!

It’s so tempting, isn’t it? Is that big bowl still sitting around? So easy to just grab one chocolate as you walk out the door… then another while you’re balancing the checkbook… then another while you’re checking email…

Little temptations like this are one of the hardest things about trying to lose weight and stay healthy. So how do we deal with them?

Here are a couple things I do:

  1. Get the heroin out the door!  Chocolate is my heroin!  I have to reduce my temptations so I get it out.  Ava get’s to keep a few treats (darn that she loves snickers – but I have resisted… so far!)
  2. Stay really well hydrated, keeping water with me at all times.
  3. Do a session of EFT = Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping
  4. Question why I have this craving.  Am I seeking comfort, am I stressed?  Is it a good craving?

It is interesting how the word craving has had many negative associations with it.  My friend Alexandra Jamieson in her book and virtual conference Women, Food, and Desire exposes the truth and wisdom of our cravings.
